Ultrasound platform wins design award

A high-performance ultrasound platform from Hitachi Medical Systems Europe has won a prestigious iF product design award 2011 and now carries the iF brand label.

The award recognised the HI VISION Avius system as a leading example of innovation, ergonomics, safety and functionality in medical product design.

The iF forum brought together manufacturers, designers and the public to celebrate design excellence and discuss current and future design trends.

Out of 2,756 entries from 43 countries, 993 iF product design award 2011 winners were selected by an independent jury of designers, entrepreneurs and academics using predefined criteria.

According to the jury, there has been a notable “revival of brands”. In times of economic upheaval, they observed, design can be a crucial factor in value creation and market success.

The HI VISION Avius is a compact ultrasound system that supports all mainstream ultrasound applications. It incorporates a graphical user interface into an LCD viewing monitor, allowing easy adjustment of imaging parameters. It offers customised scanning parameters combined with high-speed image processing and versatile filing software for image retrieval and review.

Hitachi Medical Corporation, part of the Japanese Hitachi Group, is represented in Europe by Hitachi Medical Systems Europe Holding AG, based in Switzerland. The company is a leading global supplier of digital imaging systems.
