Boyds consultancy expands into Alderley Park

New statistics show decrease in animals used for R&D

Boyds, a consultancy business supporting the development of pharmaceutical and biotech products and devices for patient benefit, has established an office facility at Alderley Park.

Boyds has headquarters in Crewe, and has recently expanded into new premises in Cambridge and Dublin. The company now employs 20 members of staff.

Alderley Park, a development by Bruntwood SciTech, is home to the internationally-recognised Mereside bioscience campus which offers more than 1m sq ft of high specification lab space, a range of scientific services and the Alderley Park Accelerator which provides a comprehensive programme of business support for start-ups and scale-ups.

The Boyds team plans to have regular attendance at Alderley Park to establish and strengthen links with other life science businesses with facilities there.

Professor Alan Boyd said: “The North West is a hotbed for medtech and biotech businesses, with our headquarters in Crewe, we are already part of that community. Making this move into Alderley Park feels like a natural next step for us to help us build on and strengthen our relationships with the region’s businesses in this sector.

“We are looking forward to the benefits of being an Alderley Park business as we continue with our growth.”

Chris Doherty, Managing Director of Alderley Park, said: “We are delighted to welcome Boyds to Alderley Park. Their expertise and knowledge that they have as a group will be a significant benefit to the life science companies that we currently have at Alderley Park.”
